We need support from our kind community.
According to government statistics, the number of people sleeping rough in England has hit a record-high after a 73 per cent increase over the last three years. This figure is based on the street count last autumn.
This figure was 4751 people sleeping rough which is actually a hugely misrepresented figure.
Firstly this is on top of an additional 9,000 approximate homeless people sleeping in tents, cars, on trains and buses. These are not counted in the street count.
Secondly most of the rough sleepers are missed in the street count due to the method used of just walking round a town counting. If you don’t know where people hide to sleep then you can’t count them. Not enough local knowledge is used to get a closer to truth total.
So the true figure of rough sleepers is far far higher than is reported. Can you now start to see the horrific situation that is growing in our communities? Christchurch may be small but we still have local people sleeping rough, in tents, in cars etc.
If you can help us in anyway then please do get in touch. We are a registered charity and are happy to accept support and donations in many forms. We can accept a one off financial donation or you may be able to get up a regular standing order, these funds are desperately needed to go towards the cost of the meals we cook 6 days a week, meat is one of our larger expenses. Or we can accept certain food products or toiletries or clothing.
Everything helps. Please think about supporting us.
Thank you.
